Jay Nickel, MS, LPC-S has practiced psychotherapy as a pastoral counselor since 2005. He has trained and practiced: as a chaplain in hospital and psychiatric unit settings; as a domestic violence intervention facilitator for both men’s group and women’s groups; as a couples counselor informed by individual’s needs for attachment and security; as a trauma counselor using EMDR; as a psycho-dynamic therapist using the dynamics of the counseling relationship to inform and guide the therapy.
Jay brings to his counseling his life experience as: a husband and father of more than 40 years; as a musician; as a software engineer, corporate manager, and entrepreneur; as an outdoor enthusiast; and as a man of committed Christian faith, currently identifying as a Mennonite because of the Mennonite’s radical peace theology.
Jay’s practice focuses on Rapid Resolution Therapy™ which combines meditative, cognitive, and experiential techniques. Clients do not have to do homework, relive a trauma, or even understand why they are “stuck”. Instead, by creating experiences involving connection, humor, and imagery in a safe, comfortable, and always professional setting, most people feel better in 1 – 6 sessions, not years. Jay aims for 1 session.
