You may have a problem with commitment, trust, anger, or infidelity (internet or physical) in your relationship. Or maybe you’re depressed, worried, and don’t see any way forward. You know you need help.
As a 21st century man, you are told you should be strong, self-assured and self-reliant, provide for your family, keep your emotions under control, and be attractive to women [which apparently means all of the above plus good grooming and being emotionally available].
On top of that, we have Christian expectations. Paul’s instructions to the Ephesians, “Men love your wives as Christ loves his church”, challenges us to selflessly protect, honor, empower, and adore our beloved. The lesson of Christ crucified challenges us to renounce violence, control, and domination in our relationships. The example of Jesus’ life challenges us to lead, to relate as equals, to be open and engaged.
The Gospel truth is: there are no rules! We have perfect freedom. But there is Wisdom, Grace and Hope.
